The forum that started the series, held as the 1st National Conference on Research and Innovation in Cambodia (NCRIC). It broadened the earlier Cambodia Education Research Forum — held twice, in 2014 and 2015 — from education research alone to research and innovation across all fields. Two keynote speeches and four presentation-and-discussion sessions carried 17 presentations on higher education development, curriculum and assessment, school management and leadership, and STEM research and education. 230 people attended. Funded by the ministry's programme budget with support from UNESCO and the Cambodian Higher Education Association (CHEA).
